Security Service workers monitor, patrol, and guard property and protect people. In Alberta, you must be licensed to work as a:
- Security Guard
- Patrol Dog Handler
- Alarm Responder
- Loss Prevention Worker
- Body Guard
Training
All security service workers must:
- successfully complete an approved security training course
- score 80% or higher on the provincial final exam
There are 2 approved training courses. Take either the:
- Alberta Basic Security Training Course, or
- Accredited Basic Security Training Course
Eligibility
To apply for a license you must:
- be over 18 years old
- be eligible to work in Canada
- be fluent in English
- have no criminal record
- have no outstanding criminal charges
- not be the subject of a criminal investigation
Course Overview:
Alberta Basic Security Training (ABST ) is 40 hours course, we are offering Online & In-Class course. There are 07 Modules in ABST Manual, We will provide training on these seven modules to our students.
- Module One: Introduction to the Security Industry
- Module Two: The Canadian Legal System and Security Professionals
- Module Three: Basic Security Procedures
- Module Four: Communication for Security Professionals
- Module Five: Documentation and Evidence
- Module Six: Response Procedures for Security Professionals
- Module Seven: Health and Safety for Security Professionals
NOTE:
- You will have to complete the ABST Online Final Exam with 80%, After that, you will go on to register for your solicitor General Written Exam at Central Protection Services Exam Centre with the confidence of knowing that you have the knowledge base to pass.
- Students your Online certificate not acceptable for licensing purposes. The student must successfully complete the ABST Ministry exam and wait for their Ministry issued certificate before applying for their license.
